What Is a Dental Implant?

Dental implant is a kind of artificial root, which is surgically fixed on the jaw to maintain the replacement position of teeth or bridges. The advantage of using implants is that they do not rely on the abutment support, they are permanent and stable. Implants are a good solution to tooth loss because they look and feel like natural teeth.

Implant materials are made of different types of metal and bone-like ceramic materials that are compatible with body tissue. There are different types of dental implants: the first is placed directly into the jaw bone, such as the natural root; the second is used with limited jaw structure, so the customized metal frame fits directly into the existing bone.
