The Causes And Treatment Options For The Bad Breath

A portion of my clients are smokers... and for these individuals, one the first thing I recommend is quitting. Quit right now, if not for your lungs and heart, for your breath. Many of my clients insist their halitosis is not - in fact - smoking related. "The smell isn't smoky," they insist. Or "I had bad breath even before I smoked." Or (my favorite), "But the smoke covers up the smell." (Trust me folks, it doesn't.)

 
Smoking's contribution to bad breath is not merely adding the cigarette smell to the mix. The real issue is the oral environment the smoking habit results in. As any knowledgeable halitosis specialist will tell you, the oral environment is one of the key variables in treating halitosis.
 
Think of your saliva as your body's natural defense against germs in your mouth. If there is not enough saliva to cleanse your mouth, it gives those chemicals a chance to attach to the insides of the cheeks, teeth and tongue. The mouth is warm and moist and is the perfect breeding ground for bad germs like bacteria to grow and spread causing infections. For a long term smoker this build up causes bacteria and an unpleasant smelling odor.
 
Another reason smoking tobacco causes bad breath is because it attacks the gum tissue cells in your mouth. Some of the chemicals found in cigarettes, deplete the gum's ability to stick to the teeth and creates air pockets where bacteria thrive, thus causing odor, tooth decay and gum infections.
 
To get rid of your bad breath, you need to brush and floss your teeth, after every meal, and brush your tongue as well. To top it off, you should use mouthwash containing alcohol, after you finish flossing and brushing your teeth.
 
Another way to get rid of bad breath is to brush your teeth after every meal. This will allow you to clean your teeth, as well as help you stop your breath from smelling bad. Also, be sure to floss everyday. Your breath stinks from having food, plaque, and bacteria between your teeth.
 
When you brush your teeth, you should also brush your tongue. This is very helpful in helping you get rid of bad breath. Especially since the tongue is a breeding ground for bacteria. If this still doesn't help, try chewing sugarless gum maybe in a Cinnamon flavor. This flavor seems to help not just cover the odor but riding the mouth of the bacteria.May be the ultrasonic scaler can be used in bad breath treatment.
 
Keep in mind too that other medical conditions can also cause bad breath. Gum problems, tonsil stones, diabetes, sinusitis, dry mouth, kidney and liver problems and many others can also be causes of that bad smelling breath, thus if you want to have fresh breath, stay healthy, maintain good diet, drink plenty of water and always practice good oral hygiene.
