The Most Effective Remedies For Teeth Whitening

A popular way to get a bright winning smile without sacrificing the time and money needed for dentist whitening treatments is teeth whitening at home.  Although there are plenty of whitening products on the market, natural home remedies that work to remove stains and whiten teeth have regained popularity in recent years.  Before trying any home remedy it's recommended that you first have your teeth professionally cleaned and take the time to discuss effectiveness and side effects of home remedies with your dentist.

One very well known remedy for teeth whitening at home and by far most popular is baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.  Bicarbonate of soda or baking soda, 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and water can be easily combined and used on your toothbrush to clean teeth.  This method lifts and removes stains over a period of time; you'll usually begin to see results within a few days to a week.  Using the hydrogen peroxide and water solution as a mouthwash can also be effective.  Some users reported that hydrogen peroxide that is not diluted with water can cause burns so discontinue if you experience negative effects.

People have used lemon juice and baking soda in combination for effective teeth whitening at home for years.  Although this works well, dentists and those in the dental industry warn against the use of citrus such as lemon juice on teeth as it tends to damage the tooth enamel over time.  If you choose this method of whitening, use regular toothpaste daily and the lemon juice and baking soda combination only on occasion.

Another "natural" treatment is to brush hard wood ash onto your teeth. This contains potassium hydroxide, which is a natural whitener. Also, you can try brushing your teeth with apple cider vinegar.

Finally, you can try the popular method of applying bicarbonate of soda a few minutes before you brush your teeth.

Now let's talk about some of the more powerful and effective treatments which are available for tooth whitening. Many of the "natural" treatments aren't as effective as an over-the-counter product, or natural treatment. Also, many of them seem to work for some, but not for others. This is often the way with natural and alternative treatments, because there's no "science" to back up their claims.

This is why I recommend you try a tooth whitening product like dental standard cleaner, or have professional treatment. I started out by using tooth whitening toothpaste (which is very effective, to some degree), and then moved on to using home tooth whitening kits.
